Biblical musical a rapper's delight

Though the biblical story of Job might not be familiar to most of us church-avoiding heathens, in the capable hands of Montreal's M.C. Abel and M.C. Cain it makes for some damn entertaining theatre. Updated and retold as a hip hop musical, the story follows Job, a successful record company exec who takes the fall for the label's slumping sales. The dueling M.C.s tell their cautionary tale with mind-blowing finesse and humour, shifting seamlessly between characters, critiquing each other's rap skills and satirizing hip hop itself. The scenes are fast-paced, the choreography exceptional and the raps endlessly creative. Not just for the shiny track suit crowd, Job: The Hip Hop Musical is as entertaining and unpredictable as they come, and not to be missed.
